Blog: Having a Baby? Have a New Baby? G.O. Here!
Let it begin with you!
I'm beginning this blog with you…because if mama's not happy, ain't nobody happy!
When was the last time someone told you to do something for yourself? Most likely, it will need to be you who makes "me time" happen. As you get further into motherhood, it becomes harder to make time for yourself, so start early on and release the mom guilt. Voice your needs and organize some time to recharge your batteries or rejuvenate your soul.
Take action and enlist dad's help to watch baby and schedule a spa treatment or take a simple walk through the park or a bookstore. Give your spouse "his time" too. That way neither one of you will become resentful that it's always about baby, and you'll both appreciate family time.
To baby proof your marriage, consider organizing a date night with your husband. Too many couples forgo time together because they are so focused on baby, but maintaining your couple relationship will help in the long run.
To organize this feat, enlist the help of a family member to babysit on a regular basis or, if that's not an option, hire a babysitter and plan to go out at least once a month. Another option is to trade sitting services with a friend who also has a little one. Set up a pack-n-play and keep your friend's baby overnight, and have them do the same. That could work out quite well for everyone!
Time management is a challenge, but carving out time for you will make the time you're with your family more fulfilling.
I look forward to bringing you organizing solutions to help simplify and organize your time more effectively and efficiently. Until next time…
