Blog: Technology As An Organizing Tool
Streamline Your Online Time with "Blog Friends"
Online networking is such an important way of staying in touch with personal and professional contacts these days – whether it be through blogs or one of the many popular social networking websites. But if you're not careful, these activities can eat up a lot of time.
I've been on Facebook for nearly a year (oh, how time flies when you're having fun!), during which time I've been asked to add countless applications, from Aquariums to Zombies. In most cases, I just ignore the requests, as when I do have time to waste, those aren't the ways I choose to spend it.

One application I was happy to add was Blog Friends, which allows you to:
1. Have your blog feed directly into your Facebook profile.
You can also do this by importing your blog into your Notes, but the drawback of doing it that way is that any comments posted will appear on the Note, and not on your blog itself, so you end up with two sets of comments. With Blog Friends, all comments go right on your blog.
2. Add your Facebook friends to your "River" so their new blog postings appear when you log into Facebook.
It's much more efficient than clicking on all the sites in your Blogroll to see who has updated!
3. Indicate your interests to see other blogs related to those topics.
You can even indicate what topics DON'T interest you, to further customize what appears in your "River". You can also adjust your settings to display blogs updated in the past 1, 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours, or 5 days.
Of course, it's not a perfect solution, as it's limited to blogs of people who are not only members of Facebook but who have added the Blog Friends application, but it's a great way to look after multiple tasks with one log-in!
(Unfortunately, I can't add this blog to Blog Friends, as it doesn't have an RSS feed yet, but I understand they are working on it!)
