10 ways to reuse a magazine
You may or may not know that I have a love for magazines. I read them, re-read them, blog about them and share the information I get from them. Current events, fun resources or products are the main reason I read so many.
I also love being able to re-use, re-cycle or re-design all kinds of stuff, so when I came across an article in Family Fun (no article link, just their website which is a great resource in itself), I had to talk about it...

My mother's smoked dishes...
About five years ago, my sister came out to visit me. As I was giving her the grand tour of the house, she paused at my china cabinet. She looked quizzically at the cabinet and said, "did mom give you those?"
Pointing at the bottom two shelves of the cabinet, she was looking at a set of dishes and glasses. It was an eighteen piece setting (yes, I said eighteen) of desert dishes, water goblets, wine glasses and brandy snifters (who the heck uses snifters anyway?). In total it was seventy-two pieces of smoked glass.

Fun magazine storage boxes with flare
A few weeks ago I talked a little bit about dressing up any storage box. I just love the idea of taking something boring or plain and adding a little bit of my own style. It's like being creative without really having to work to hard for something beautiful.
I was reading a few back issues of Martha's Living, I noticed she did it again. She created something amazing and made it seem so easy. That got my attention.

Sunshine and daydreaming
The sun is out today and I find myself wanting to spend the rest of the afternoon feeling the warm air on my skin. I have been dreaming of these warm days for months now. *sigh* I love Spring.
This past week went by so fast I can hardly believe it's Friday. I had a super week teaching organizing classes on topics from paper clutter to time management. I love to teach and work with those eager beavers wanting to make things simplier in their busy lives.
My week looked like this:
Monday prepping for the three classes.

With the demands we face each day every small expense can start to add up.
When faced with the question, "Do I put gas in my car or should I buy the new file box for my office?"
I am not saying, don't skimp on your organizing supplies, just start thinking outside the box rather than what to put in.
Here are a few everyday items you can turn into beautiful stylish organizing storage with a twist...

What's up with Martha and the armoire?
Did you ever notice that Martha Stewart has a love (or a bit of an obsession) for armories?
It's crazy, but for as long as I have been watching, reading and following this gal, I never noticed it before until last week.
We took a roadtrip last week for spring break and I packed the car loaded with all my recent magazine issues. I couldn't wait for the long highway miles with the DH driving, kids napping in the back and me, reading my magazines! *sigh* It was a great vacation!!!!

Five habits worth getting into...
I am a firm believer that if you want to get organized, you just have to get into the habit of doing so. With two small kids, I am finding myself spending most days teaching (and reminding) them of good habits to get into.
"Bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into, but hard to get out of." Proverb
We get into these bad habits because we find that maybe the task or action doesn't sound like much fun at the moment, so we put it off or dismiss it.
I always remind my kids, "If you would put your toys away, you would know where they are when you need them..." Although bad habits are hard to break, they are not impossible.

Gentle reminders are they helpful or irritating?
I love gentle little reminders. In my opinion, it's a kind way of telling me what to do (or in this case, what not to do).
Martha Stewart has made a living by giving us gentle reminders, (that's the first article I read in her Living magazine). She has such an eloquent way of telling us it's time to clear the clutter off our front porch, or pull weeds in our yard.
If you stop and think about it, we get gentle reminders everyday, everywhere.
