For all those scrapbookers out there who need a little help organizing, this is the place! I share my own efforts to become more organized as I go through stacks of paper and supplies. I draw from sources such as "The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker" and other advice books, as well as my own experience.

Check out Nancy's Notions for good organizing products
Hi gals! Just a quick note to suggest checking out www.nancysnotions.com for organizational tools. Originally designed for sewing, these organizational tools could work for scrappers, too. Check out the "Mobile Organizer Set" which is a set of drawers on wheels. I also like the "Purple Stuff Bucket" which is a canvas bucket with 27 pockets. If you like the bucket idea, you can make your own by ordering the "Jitter Bucket and Clear Vinyl" kit. If you need a place for magazines and books, look at "Stuff Cubby Combo." For a workspace to put away when you don't need it, look for the "Home Hobby Table." I...

Scrapbooking Sales
Hi scrappers! I decided to try my hand at creating scrapbook kits. Have you ever tried this? I wanted a way to use up the product I don't use--you know, the stuff that has been sitting around for years and you can't bear to part with?! It also occurred to me this would be a good way to stay organized. Anything I don't want or need, I can turn into a nice kit for someone else. Right now I'm selling my kits at the local community center. If there is interest, I may approach my local scrapbook stores about selling them. So, consider becoming a scrapbook entrepeneur and make those kits! Until next...

Put Your Scrapbooking Talents to Good Use
Howdy scrappers! I mentioned in an earlier post that I am creating a scrapbook for my local library's 100th Anniversary. I belong to the "Friends of the Library" and that is how I heard they needed people to help. Have you ever thought of offering your talents to organizations or businesses? One of my crop leaders is creating a scrapbook for a local farm equipment business. They are also celebrating a milestone in business and wanted a way to commemorate it. Do you belong to a group that is having an open house, officer installation, or annual party? Make a scrapbook to have at the event. When my mom turned 75 we brought out several scrapbooks and photo albums and everyone had...

Recycle Your Old Scrapbooking Magazines
Hi scrappers! Just a quick note to remind you to recycle your old magazines. I recently dropped my scrapbook magazines off at a local Senior Center but there are lots of other places. Try local libraries, fitness clubs and high schools. I attended a crop last week and there was a "free" table. This is another great way to recycle magazines. Of course, the easiest way is to pass them on to friends or family to get them into scrapbooking! Until next...

Creating Keepsakes Issue Discusses Organization
Hi ladies! I just got the latest issue of Creating Keepsakes and it has about 6 pages on organization. It addresses different personality types and organizational styles that work for each type. The creative personality type tends to leave things messy, and has to get organized first, before they can scrapbook. I'm not that type but I know plenty of people who are. Sometimes they get discouraged because they have to clean up before they can get started, and by the time they have freed up space, they don't want to do their project anymore, or they've run out of time. Does this sound like you? I like to clean up after each project so I am always ready to go when the...

Organizing Tools That Can Be Adapted To Scrapbooking
Hi scrappers! I just received an email from Oranize It! which is a great catalog of home and office organizing products. One product designed for scrapbookers is the Portable Scrapbook Tote which looks like it would be a great product to take to crops. The bulk of their products are for home and office but many of them work for scrapbooking. I especially like the locker storage that is a metal basket that holds supplies and...

Scrapbooking Organization Sale
Hi scrappers! Boy, 2009 really came up fast! I wasn't ready for January. Our area had a lot of melting snow and resulting flooding so I helped my family deal with that. But all is well now, and I can focus on my hobbies, sewing and scrapbooking. There is a big sale until January 20th at scrapinsanity.com on organizational tools for scrapbookers. There are totes, swivel stackers, storage boxes and a cool "page in progress" with magnets. Check it out. I don't receive any financial gain from my recommendations--I just recommend what I think are good websites or good products, so my views are not influenced by...

Get Organized with a new Scrapbook Table
Howdy folks! Well, this marked the first week in 4 weeks I did not have a broken pipe due to freezing temperatures! Yeah! Now I can focus on scrapbooking! I purchased an inexpensive plastic table from Office Max because I just didn't have enough room to spread out. It is about 4 feet x 2 feet and fits in my family room. Now this is what I call real life scrapbooking--no fancy magazine-layout room--just real life mess. It looks pretty good when I'm done with a project. ![]()

Hello from the Wintery Northwest!
Hi guys! I've missed posting the last couple weeks. This winter weather caught me off guard. I had frozen pipes and a cracked kitchen sink pipe. All is back to normal now, though. I've been scrapbooking quite a bit lately. I took on a volunteer project at the Lynden Library. I'm helping put together several scrapbooks covering the 100 year history of the library. It's due in June which is surprisingly little time to do 100 years. I've got the last 6 completed! I also bought a new table. Now I have room to actually spread out. Before I stacked supplies everywhere. Photos will be coming... For today, I wish everyone a happy...

Our New President and Other Scrapable Moments
Hi scrappers! Happy last day of November! Not much is going on today with me. Then I thought about the election a few weeks ago and am glad I saved the front page of our local newspaper. My suggestion is to create a scrapbook page of the election with journaling about what it means to you and your family. I believe you will be glad you did and your children will appreciate it. Another neat project for the future is to write down mini stories of your life. One page or half page stories of various topics: food I liked, my favorite pet, my first house, my first car, etc. etc. My mom is writing a story each week and I will help her bind them and she will give them to...
