If you own a home based business, you know how challenging "being the boss" really is! You have so many hats -- no wonder you're so tired! Sometimes, lack of SUPPORT staff, space, and the proper equipment can be a real hindrance to getting your work done. On top of all that, you must struggle to create some BOUNDARIES between your business and personal lives (kind of hard to do when your latest project is spread out all over the dining room table!) This month, let's focus on some strategies and resources that will help you stop working in your business and start working ON your business.
Create a designated SPACE for your business -- be it a corner of the living room or a basement office. Keep all of your paraphernalia contained to that one area. Then make it known that your "office" is off-limits and not just another living area.
Set standard working HOURS -- like any other business would have -- and stick to them. Don't sleep all day, just because you can. On the other hand, make a concerted effort to avoid working all night and weekend, just because you can.
Make sure you have some PRIVACY during your working hours so you can concentrate. If you have an office with a door, use it. And feel free to adjust your office hours any way that you need to find some uninterrupted time during the day.
