• keep house clean and tidy -- put away any clutter
• clean and organize counters
• remove unnecessary appliances and other objects
• clean and organize the garage

• use potpourri or air fresheners (no pet or food odors)
• put fresh towels in all the bathrooms
• have manuals and warranties on hand
• if you have unusual colors on your walls, repaint in neutral
• make sure hinges and knobs are tightened and doors close properly
• fix any leaky faucets or running toilets

• trim and fertilize lawn, shrubs and trees
• clear debris from lawn and the border of the home
• plant flowers or put a flowerpot by your front door
• make sure paths and patios are clean and in good repair

• make sure the garage door is greased and working properly
• replace any missing or torn screens
• make sure the house address numbers are easily visible
• replace stray or warped roofing shingles
• straighten sagging gutters
• polish and door brass -- make sure the doorbell works properly
• replace a worn doormat

• paint and / or clean the front door
• sand and repaint and chipping or peeling areas
• clean and paint windows and sills
• repaint or replace your mailbox if it shows signs of wear
• repaint or touch-up indoors where necessary

• clean walls, doors and woodwork (no fingerprints)
• clean all appliances, including inside
• consider hiring a professional cleaning service
• clean and spot-treat all carpeting
• polish wood floors and vinyl flooring
