Q: IS HIRING A PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER EXPENSIVE?

A: It doesn't have to be -- it just depends on what you are looking for. Each speaker sets his or her own prices, based on professional EXPERIENCE, the kind of talk, and the LENGTH of the engagement. Of course, hiring a local presenter to put on a one-hour "lunch and learn" will cost less than hiring a nationally-renowned speaker to present a full-day workshop at your trade conference. And if you choose to hire a speaker who is based out of another state, you can expect to pay for TRAVEL expenses in addition to the speaking fee.

Q: WHEN WOULD I THINK ABOUT HIRING A SPEAKER?

A: People hire speakers for many different occasions. You might want to put together a TRAINING program for your staff at work, or a workshop for your Wednesday night civic group. You may need a keynote for a luncheon, or be interested in a series of SEMINARS for a convention. Any time that you want expert advice delivered in an entertaining and informative fashion, a professional speaker would certainly fit the bill.

Q: WHAT KINDS OF TOPICS CAN I CHOOSE FROM?

A: We offer referrals for speakers who specialize in ORGANIZING topics -- such as time management, paper management, space organizing, simplifying your life, preparing for a move, financial organizing, etc. These talks can be for any type of AUDIENCE -- your local church or civic group, a classroom full of college students, your staff of employees, a professional association conference, even just a group of friends who want to learn more about a specific organizing concern.

Q: HOW DO I FIND A SPEAKER?

A: Our online referral service makes it easy for you to find someone for your workshop. We ask you to fill out a short PROFILE -- indicating what types of speaking topics you are interested in, your area (city and state), contact information, and any special requests. We then search our database for those professionals who best MATCH your profile and who provide -- and you are immediately given a list of speakers in your area (or national speakers, if you request them) who provide the services you need, complete with references and a resume for each. These speakers will then contact you to discuss your situation, describe how they work, and explain their fees.

Q: WHAT IF THERE AREN'T ANY SPEAKERS IN MY AREA?

A: If you live in a rural area or a state that just doesn't have many speakers, it may be difficult to find someone in your local area who can help you. But we are happy to give you a referral to a speaker who can TRAVEL to work with you (some additional travel fees may apply). Just let us know when you request a referral if you are open to this OPTION. But we will definitely try to send you someone local, first.

Q: ARE ALL OF YOUR SPEAKERS AVAILABLE NATIONALLY?

A: All of the presenters who have their talks listed on our site would be happy to schedule a workshop for you anywhere in North America -- and many are available INTERNATIONALLY. While these higher-profile speakers cost a little more, they are well worth it if you are looking for an experienced presenter with an impressive reputation, if you are hosting a large event, or you want a unique seminar that you can't find anywhere else. And if a national speaker is a bit more than you need, we can hook you up with a qualified LOCAL speaker who will put together a professional, yet less expensive, talk.

Q: WHAT IF I WANT A SPECIFIC TALK FROM A SPEAKER?

A: That's why we set up our "Speakers Bureau" -- so you can PREVIEW different talks offered by our national speakers. So instead of saying, "I want someone who can speak about time management," you can choose from a variety of available time management workshops -- selecting the one that best meets your needs.

Q: CAN I REQUEST A CUSTOMIZED TALK?

A: Our speakers are happy to develop a customized workshop that is TAILORED to your particular needs. And most of the workshops offered through our "Speakers Bureau" can be adjusted to whatever length presentation suits you -- from one hour to several days. If you find a speaker you like but don't see the EXACT presentation you want, go ahead and request a referral -- you can work out the details of your talk with the speaker.

Q: HOW DO I KNOW THESE SPEAKERS ARE "QUALIFIED"?

A: We will give you a lot of information about each speaker -- educational and career background, how long the person has been in business, whether or not (s)he is a member of any professional associations, his or her speaking experience, even references -- all in the form of an online RESUME. It is then up to you to contact with each speaker and find out more about them.

Q: HOW DO I SELECT A SPEAKER?

A: The first rule of thumb is to hire a speaker whose STYLE compliments your own -- are you looking for someone who is serious or funny? Ultra-professional or just like the people in your audience? You can learn a lot about a speaker by checking his or her references, and by using our free "Interview Checklist" as you speak to different professionals. Also ask if the person belongs to the National Speakers Association -- members have pledged to follow a strict code of ethics. Finally, trust your INSTINCTS. If you have good (or bad) feelings about the person, make your choice accordingly.

Q: WHY DO SPEAKERS CHARGE THE FEES THEY DO?

A: Speaking is a PROFESSIONAL service -- just like you would receive from an attorney or an accountant or a coach. Most speakers are college graduates and have spent many years developing their skills and researching their topics. And they have honed their craft -- the art of keeping an audience engaged as they entertain and inform. You are paying for their KNOWLEDGE, but also their ability to motivate and inspire you, as the listener, to go out and improve your life. And you pay more for an experienced speaker or one who travels from a long distance to give your talk. But it is worth it in the long run, for the quality of the information and the delivery.

Q: DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR REFERRAL SERVICE?

A: Absolutely not -- our services are FREE to you! Speakers who participate in our network pay us a small "referral fee" if you decide to work with them -- but there is NEVER any charge to you.

Q: HOW DO I CONTACT EACH SPEAKER?

A: After you submit your request, we will immediately provide you with the CONTACT (name, phone, e-mail, etc.) for each speaker that matches your profile. We will also pass your information on to the presenters on your list so they can follow up with you. But you are welcome to contact your speakers at any time to set up an INTERVIEW or consultation.

Q: HOW DO I REQUEST A SPEAKER FOR SOMEONE ELSE?

A: That's no problem -- just be sure to give us contact information for the PERSON who will be setting up the speaking engagement. So if you are requesting an speaker for your business lunch and learn program -- but your Human Resources director is in charge of scheduling -- let us know how to get in touch with her, as well. It might also be nice if you let her KNOW you are doing this for her (so she knows what is going on when we contact her!)

Q: WHY SHOULD I USE YOUR SERVICE?

A: You could pick a name at RANDOM from a listing in the phone book or on the internet -- but how will you know what kinds of talks they give? Or what their qualifications are? Or how long they've been in business? You don't. But we take the guesswork out of selecting a presenter. We do all of the BACKGROUND work for you -- you simply have to interview the speaker and make a decision.
