Q: WHY SHOULD I WORK WITH A PROFESSIONAL COACH? A: Think about how useful an outsider's INPUT can be when you are trying to work through a problem -- particularly a trained professional who can look at the situation from an objective point of view. Your coach will notice problems and solutions you may not see. Your coach can also help you FOCUS your dreams into a tangible, achievable action plan. Finally, your coach will keep you motivated and hold you accountable for the goals you set. Q: IS HIRING A COACH EXPENSIVE? A: It doesn't have to be -- it just depends on what you are looking for. Each coach sets his or her own prices, based on professional experience the type of coaching provided, and the LENGTH of commitment required of you. Of course, since most coaches work via the telephone, hiring a coach across the country can be just as affordable as hiring one on the other side of town. But do remember that coaching is a PROFESSIONAL service -- just like you would receive from an accountant or attorney (or that you would provide as an organizer!) So expect to pay a professional fee for their services -- with an average ranging anywhere from $45 to $75 an hour. Q: HOW ARE YOUR COACHES DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS? A: Our coaches have one very important qualification that others lack -- they were all once (or still are) ORGANIZERS themselves. That means that, by hiring a coach through our referral service, you are guaranteed to work with someone who truly UNDERSTANDS your business. Our coaches have been down the same path, encountered the same frustrations, and are ready to share their experiences with you. Q: WHEN WOULD I THINK ABOUT HIRING A COACH? A: People hire coaches for many different reasons. You may be a "newbie" -- just STARTING your organizing business -- and looking for some guidance by a veteran organizer. Or you may have recently experienced a drop in business -- and you need to infuse a little more life into your business. Or, you are trying to move to the next LEVEL and are having difficulty getting there on your own. Coaching is a great way to improve your company's position, your skills, and your prospects -- no matter where you are in your business. Q: HOW DO COACHES WORK? A: Coaching usually involves an extended, involved series of meetings -- a structured and goal-oriented CONVERSATION. You and your coach will talk about your desires and frustrations. Together, you will develop a list of potential resources and an "action plan" for reaching your goals. It is then your responsibility to do your "HOMEWORK" before your next coaching session. Your coach will continually re-evaluate your progress as you move closer toward your goals -- making sure that you stay on track. Q: WILL I MEET WITH MY COACH IN PERSON? A: Most coaches work via the TELEPHONE or EMAIL-- allowing you to keep on a regular schedule regardless of where you are. This allows you to take advantage of the skills and experience of the most appropriate coach for your needs, without having to worry about travel expenses or matching up your calendars. Q: HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WORK WITH MY COACH? A: You should plan to work with your coach for as long as you feel that you are BENEFITING from his or her services. It is generally recommended that you commit to a serious relationship with your coach in order to reap the full rewards -- some coaches require at least a 3 to 6-month minimum. Regardless, you will get out of coaching what you put into it -- and that depends more on COMMITMENT to the process than the length of the relationship. Q: HOW DO I SELECT A COACH? A: The first rule of thumb is to hire a coach whose STYLE compliments your own -- are you looking for someone who will be a strict taskmaster -- or one who will be more sensitive and compassionate to your problems? A coach who schedules structured appointments, or one who is a bit more free-form? You can learn a lot about a coach by checking his or her references, and by using our free "Interview Checklist" as you speak to different professionals. Also ask if the person is a CERTIFIED coach -- there are many Professional Associations out there that require coaches to complete a lengthy training course before working with clients. Finally, trust your INSTINCTS. If you have good (or bad) feelings about the person, make your choice accordingly. Q: DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR REFERRAL SERVICE? A: Absolutely not -- our coaching referrals are FREE to you! Coaches who participate in our network pay us a small "referral fee" if you decide to work with them -- but there is NEVER any charge to you. Q: HOW DO I CONTACT EACH COACH? A: After you submit your coaching referral request, we will provide you with the CONTACT information (name, phone, e-mail, etc.) for each coach that matches your profile. We will also pass your information on to those coaches on your list so they can follow up with you. But you are welcome to contact your coaches at any time to set up an INTERVIEW or consultation. Q: HOW DO I GET A REFERRAL TO A COACH? A: Just fill out our coaching referral request -- and we will provide you with a LIST of up to four coaches who provide the services you need. Then all you have to do is interview them, make your decision, and get started! Add this page to your Bookmarks!
