Whether a bathroom is large or small, most are an organizational puzzlement. There are hardly ever enough drawers or closet space. And under the sink space is so large, it’s easy for items to get lost. These 10 tips may give you some ideas for MAXIMIZING the space you have.
SEGMENT
Start by sorting the items you normally keep in your bathroom into CATEGORIES. You might come up with sections like:
CLEAN OUT
You should really weed out expired medications and vitamins, old makeup, and things you haven’t used in more than a YEAR. Some of these items get dangerous after a certain amount of time, others lose their potency, and still others just get yucky!
CREATE HANGING SPACE
Add storage to your SHOWER with a shower caddy that hangs from the shower head or from the rod. It can hold scrubbers, shampoos, soaps and more -- a great way to instantly create more space in your bathroom where there was none before.
SUBDIVIDE
Use divider trays in DRAWERS to separate hair stuff, teeth care stuff, and other small items. They will be a lot easier to find when you need them if you aren't digging through a whole drawer full of clutter.
MAKE IT EASY
Put up HOOKS for towels, especially for kids. They make it much easier to rehang a wet towel than towel rods. Many adhesive hooks can be placed anywhere, even on tile -- and they now come in attractive metals as well as plastic.
DEAD SPACE
Use space behind your DOOR by putting up wire racks or pocket shoe bags to store easy access items such as daily vitamins, hair brushes, curling iron, hair accessories, electric razor, etc.
ORGANIZING YOUR DRUGS
Divide up MEDICINES by how they are used and store each category in a clear plastic bin with a lid. Make one box for pain medication, one for cold medicines, one for ointments and first aid.
REDUCING VISIBLE CLUTTER
There are many makeup organizers for the COUNTERTOP that work great -- for keeping the items you use everyday in order. If you want to store it away, use drawers and drawer dividers. If you are short on drawers, get a small plastic set of drawers that can fit under the sink or in a closet.
