We want to give a Christmas gift that will delight those people we love. But we run out of ideas, rush out last minute and just get anything. Guess what, many gifts may end up in the recipients' next garage sale. The reason could be simple: the gift does not make the recipient feel LOVED.
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL LOVED?
Each of us expresses love and likes to receive love in DIFFERENT ways. Someone likes a tangible gift such as a nice skirt, flowers; Some may like their loved one to rub his/her feet for one hour as birthday gift; someone likes to have a Christmas gathering and a lovely photo album with photos taken during the gathering, etc. Have honest CONVERSATION with your loved ones about what makes him/her feel loved. Listen and honor what they said. This can strengthen relationships and save time and money as well. Some examples of thoughtful gift ideas:
A LOVE OF READING
BOOKS that you enjoyed and wanted to share with your loved one. Write personal notes inside the book about why the book made you think of the recipient. Read his/her favorite books and record it into AUDIO. Your loved one can listen to your voice while "reading" the books.
A LOVE OF REMEMBERING
Everyone prepares a note about special MEMORIES with the recipients in advance and read it out during that special day (e.g. birthday). There will be laughter and tears that makes the day so meaningful to the recipient.
A LOVE OF PHOTOS
Small photo album full of PICTURES that you and recipients taken during a trip or some special moments in life.
A LOVE OF FOOD
Cook some special DISHES for loved ones, take photos of them enjoying the dishes and attached it in the recipe as gift. Some personal notes on the recipe and photos will be great. Christmas RECIPES with their photos of enjoying the dish will definitely much better than a normal recipe bought from a book store.
