Being A Good Boss As An Entrepreneur

You decide to make a go for it and become an entrepreneur. That is great, though now your business depends completely on you and your EFFORTS. You control the volume of business received. You control your customer service. You control educating updates about your business. You control the hiring of employees. You control your business reputation. With so much responsibility and leadership you represent you must never forget about YOURSELF and being a good boss. Here are some tips for becoming a good boss to yourself as the endeavor is made into the entrepreneur world.
RECOGNIZE YOUR PRIORITIES

To be good to yourself is as important to the long-term HEALTH (and financial success) of your company as any other activity for building your business. It's goint to be a long road, but it's worth it. And lots of mistakes are going to be made -- but from each one, remember that there is a lesson to be learned. Your job as the boss is to continually ask "what lesson am I supposed to be learning here?" Then you can adjust your behaviors and business policies accordingly.
LOOK TO THE FUTURE

Be optimistic about your goals. If you have a VISION, write it down and see that you follow through with it. If you see an idea in a magazine, save it -- you may use it down the road. Don't give up, and keep those visions and goals in your mind every single day! Your are the only one who will make them come TRUE.
TAKE SOME TIME

Don't work yourself into the ground. Take regular BREAKS during the day to walk away from your company. Call a friend or family member during the work day to chat. Go for a walk after working on a project for a long period of time. And give yourself a full day OFF during the week every once in a while to do something you love. You can also make the work day more enjoyable by incorporating your HOBBIES into your business. If you like to draw, create some new graphics yourself for your marketing materials. If you enjoy knitting, make tokens of appreciation for people that matter most.
KNOW YOUR LIMITS

You know what your work load is and how much you can handle. Draw the line when you have reached your LIMIT. If you become too busy you won't be able to produce the quality service that your clients expect out of you. It's better to have a controlled group of clients and knock their socks off, than to take on too many projects and get burned out. As you grow, hire help. If you want to be a one person business, subcontract to other professionals. Work smart and make each client feel special, pampered, and spoiled. Treat them so well that they can't live with out your service.
ENJOYING WHAT YOU DO

Becoming an entrepreneur has its pros and cons. You set your schedule, yet you work extra hard to make it succeed. But if you LOVE what you do then success follows! Love yourself, love your work and great things will happen!
