As you go through your attic clearing out the clutter, have three BOXES at hand -- "keep," "get rid of," and "not sure."
Ask yourself if each item you pick up is "beautiful, useful, or loved" -- if not, WHY are you hanging onto it it?
As you clean out, separate out items that need to be REPAIRED or returned -- or are missing a vital piece to be operable again.
If you have given away, repaired, recycled, or sold everything that is salvageable, don’t feel guilty about TOSSING the rest.
Use clear, square (or rectangular), LABELED storage containers when you can -- they stack easier and you can easily see what is stored in a box with just a glance.
It’s better to divide your space up by installing additional SHELVES or using old furniture for storage rather than stack too many containers on top of each other.
Be careful about storing HEAVY, bulky, or hard-to-handle items on high shelves -- unless you are looking for a concussion!
Keep CLIMATE in mind -- don’t store things where they will be damaged by heat, cold, moisture, or insects -- or take precautions to protect your belongings.
