ORGANIZING FOR THE GRIEVING CLIENT

Presented at the 2006 National Association Of Professional Organizers conference, this 90-minute workshop focuses on the important but often sensitive issue of organizing a client who is grieving over a loss. It is available as either an "instant download" audio recording (in MP3 format) or as a CD.

Inability to organize is one of the characteristics of grief, and the professional organizer can provide a service during this difficult time is someone's life. You'll learn the characteristics of grief and the physical, emotional and behavioral effects on the bereaved. Then we'll discuss the role of the professional organizer in helping the grieving: what we do as sympathetic human beings; the responsibilities of being the professional in the relationship with the client; and the organizing we do.

In addition to being an experienced, Certified Professional Organizer in Chronic Disorganization, Kit Anderson is a published author, an accomplished public speaker, an instructor for seven colleges in four states, a former elected official, a chronic volunteer, a wife of over 40 years, the mother of two grown children, a degreed zoologist and a former research scientist.
