Creating A First Aid Kit

BASIC SUPPLIES

  • scissors and tweezers
  • adhesive tape
  • safety pins
  • sterile gauze pads and adhesive bandages
  • rolls of gauze and ace bandages for wrapping
  • thermometer
  • cotton swabs and cotton balls

  • ice packs or plastic bags
  • latex gloves

EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS

  • 911 (ambulance, fire, police)
  • police non-emergency (vandalism, minor car accident, etc.)
  • poison control center
  • doctor, dentist, and pediatrician
  • local hospital or clinic
  • each family member's phone numbers (work, cell, etc.)
  • veterinarian and after-hours pet emergency

IMPORTANT MEDICATIONS

  • painkillers (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.)
  • antihistamine tablets
  • saline eye drops
  • hydrocortisone cream
  • antiseptic ointment or wipes
  • benzocaine spray
  • peroxide or rubbing alcohol
