What better time to get the two most-often USED rooms in your home organized? Think about it -- between getting ready in the morning, meal preparation, eating and socializing (if you do that in the kitchen like most Americans), and getting ready for bed -- that's a lot of time spent in your kitchen and bathroom! Are yours as orderly EFFICIENT as they could be? Or do you spend more time in each than you need to because you can't find anything? I thought so! Maybe you need to spend a few minutes reviewing your LAYOUT and revising the way that you use your storage spaces. This month, we'll give you some tools to do exactly that.
Set up CENTERS in your kitchen for all of your different activities. You might have centers for "cooking," "food preparation," "food storage," etc. Keep all of the supplies and equipment for that activity stored in the appropriate center.
Store items according to FREQUENCY of use (regularly-used items in the most convenient storage spaces), size, weight (don't want to drop something heavy on your head!), ease of movement, and nearest the point where it will be used.
Only keep out those items you will use DAILY on your counters -- everything else can live in a cabinet or drawer. And in the bathroom, organizing your toiletries into baskets and containers will give you much more free counter space.
