The 3 C's are the Key
If you want to make change in your health that lasts, you've got to incorporate what Chris Freytag, professional motivator and fitness coach calls the 3 C's: Commitment, Convenience, Consistency.
Commitment means you're going to let the people in your world know that you are going to work on creating better health for yourself and encourage them to help you. It means you're going to do it even when you don't feel like it - knowing that in order to ignite your energy, you have to work for it. No excuses, or stories.
To make it easier to keep your commitment, your program must be convenient. You'll never stick with an exercise program if you hate doing it or it takes an act of God to make it happen. Can't get to the gym? Walk or run outside. Climb stairs. Make it a no-brainer to do. And make it something you like (or at least don't hate!) to do. If accountability is a problem, enlist the help of a friend.
And if you're not consistent, commitment and convenience don't mean a thing. You can't work out once a week or eat clean once a month and expect any results. We all know this. Consistency over time is key. The good news is that baby steps yield big results. Take it small, take it slow - but take it! And look forward to a healthier, more energetic and confident you this summer!
