Financial Freedom Day

Financial FREEDOM -- sounds like a pipe dream, doesn't it? If you imagine this means spending the rest of your life sitting on a beach, sipping tropical drinks, and spending money hand over fist, it probably is. But if you picture financial independence as achieving relief from DEBT, building a solid nest-egg to cover you in case of emergency, not having to work 90 hours a week (or at all, if you don't want to), reducing your EXPENSES to where you consistently live below your means, and finding freedom from worries about money -- it can happen to you! This month, we offer some resources and tips for making this dream a reality in your life.

Some Practical Organizing Tips...

Take a look at your DEBT -- especially credit cards and consumer loans. Pay at least double the minimum monthly payment on the one with the highest interest, until you have completely paid one debt off -- then move to the next highest interest rate debt.
Look at your BUDGET -- are you living at, above, or below your means? Can you trim any extraneous expenses? Do you really need that cup of coffee at Starbucks every morning? Every spending decision should get you closer to your financial goals.
How much do you SAVE each year? You should put at least 10% of your income into savings and investments. Make the maximum contribution to your retirement plan -- and keep 6 months of expenses in a liquid account, in case of emergencies.
